NKREKP Launches Investigation into Possible Abuses in the Wholesale Energy Market

On May 19, 2026, the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities of Ukraine (NKREKP) held an open meeting and adopted a number of decisions related to the functioning of the electricity market.

One of the key decisions was the adoption of a resolution “On launching an investigation into abuses in the wholesale energy market.” This issue is important for market participants, as it concerns transparency, fair competition, and compliance with the rules of the wholesale energy market.

NKREKP also reviewed licensing matters in the areas of electricity supply, generation, and trading, as well as adopted decisions on sanctions against certain market participants.

These actions indicate stronger regulatory control over energy market participants and increased attention to compliance with licensing conditions and legal requirements.
